Basics Tab
Basic rendering settings can be found on the Basics tab.
- Surface Subdivision
- This menu allows you to set the level of polygon subdivision used when rendering curved surfaces or polygon meshes with roundness specified. Set the level of polygon subdivision according to the object to be rendered or to the amount of memory available.
- Antialiasing
- When selected, anti-aliasing is performed during rendering. The Antialiasing checkbox is switched on when Ray Tracing(Draft), Ray Tracing, or Wireframe has been selected from the Method popup menu. Antialiasing is always applied when Path Tracing is selected. Antialiasing reduces quantization errors observed at edges with large color contrasts, known as jaggies.
- Render Background
- The background set in the Background Window will be rendered. If unselected, rendering is performed with a black background.
- Reflect Background
- The background is reflected by surfaces with reflection and/or transparency.
- Illuminance Correction
- The intensity of all lights in the scene can be adjusted at once to correct the brightness of the scene.
See also Illuminance Correction
- Render Shadows
- Shadows of objects are rendered.
- Shadow Type
- The type of shadows used when rendering with ray tracing or path tracing. Ray Tracing draws shadows with the ray tracing method. Shadow Map draws soft shadows at high speeds.
- Shadow Map Size
- This option becomes active when Shadow Map is selected from the Shadow Type pop-up menu. The size of the shadow map is specified here. A larger size produces clearer shadow edges, but requires more memory. An insufficient shadow map size can result in jagged shadows.
- Shadow Map Bias
- This becomes active when Shadow Map is selected from the Shadow Type pop-up menu. When a surface on which the shadow map is projected is not parallel to the map, the shadow map, in whole or in part, may not be displayed. By modifying the bias value, you can solve this problem.
- Shadow Map Blur
- This becomes active when Shadow Map is selected from the Shadow Type pop-up menu. The outlines of the Shadow Maps will be blurred according to the value entered in this field.
- Sampling
- This becomes active when Shadow Map is selected from the Shadow Type pop-up menu. The number of shadow samplings is specified here. Larger sampling values reduce animation flickering but increase rendering time.
Note Illuminance Correction is included with Shade3D Standard and Professional.
