Names and Functions of ShadeExplorer
Display ShadeExplorer by selecting menu View > ShadeExplorer. ShadeExplorer is used to view files on Shade.
- Browser Area Show/Hide Button
- This button shows/hides the browser pane on the left.
- Open Button
- This button opens selected types of files within ShadeExplorer.
- Shade scene file
- The selected files are opened.
- Surface file
- Settings for the selected object or part are loaded.
- Background file
- Background settings for the current scene are loaded.
- Image file
- The selected image is loaded into the Picture Box for the selected object or part. If no surface or mapping settings are configured, the settings are automatically configured.
- Play Button
- The Open button turns into a Play button when a sound file is selected within ShadeExplorer. This button plays back the sound.
- Insert Button
- This button inserts files selected within ShadeExplorer into the current scene.
- Shade scene file
- All selected objects are imported, setting the origin as the reference point.
- Surface file
- Settings for the selected object or part are loaded.
- Background file
- Background settings for the current scene are loaded.
- Image file
- The selected image is loaded into the Picture Box for the selected object or part. If no surface or mapping settings are configured, the settings are automatically configured.
- Sound file
- A sound object is configured at the origin of the current scene and the selected sound file is loaded.
- Preview Area
- Those selected in the browser area on the left side of the window such as those of a catalog are displayed in the area. The preview area allows the following operations:

- Double-click
- Double-clicking on a thumbnail image is equivalent to the Open or Insert button.
- Shade scene file
- Dragging a Shade scene file into the Figure Window makes the object imported, setting the point at which it is dropped as the reference point.
- Surface file
- Dragging a surface file into the Figure Window makes the surface settings loaded for the select object or part.
- Background file
- Dragging a background file loads the background into the current scene.
- Image file
- Dragging an image file into a mapping layer of the Surface window loads in the Picture Box of the select layer. When the layer of the background window is set to Image, the dropped image is loaded in the Picture Box as the background image. When an image is selected in the Object Info window, dropping an image file into the Picture Box replaces the existing image with the dropped image.
- Sound file
- Dropping a sound file into the Figure Window configures a sound object at the point it is dropped at and loads the sound into it.
- Create Catalog Button
- This button configures a new catalog with the specified path when the display mode is Catalog.
When the display mode is Explorer, this button configures a new catalog to selected files or folder.

- Show Image Button
- This button shows an image of the thumbnail selected in the preview area in another window. When the selected file is of a Shade scene, its rendering image is displayed.
- Update Button
- This button refreshes the view of ShadeExplorer.
- Display Popup Menu
- This allows you to select the ShadeExplorer display mode: Catalog, Online Content, Explorer, or Backup History.
