3D Mouse Operations

Shade3D supports 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator 3D mouse. It can be used to operate cameras and manipulate objects in the Figure Window. Please refer to the 3Dconnexion documentation for instructions on installing the necessary driver and the use of the 3D mouse.

Operating the Camera in the Perspective View

When the active viewport is set to Perspective View, the 3D mouse can be used to pan and dolly the camera. Panning is equivalent to moving Eye & Target in the Camera Window. Dolly is equivalent to Zoom while holding Control/Ctrl.

Moving and Rotating Objects

When the active viewport is set to a view other than Perspective View or UV View, the 3D mouse can be used to move and rotate the selected object.
In Perspective View you can also hold Alt to move and rotate the selected object with the 3D mouse.

Camera Fit

When the 3D mouse driver is installed, Fit to Selection is assigned to the L button by default. This is equivalent to using the Fit button located at the top of each viewport.

3D Mouse Sensitivity and Speed

To adjust the sensitivity or movement speed of the 3D mouse, please go to 3Dconnexion Control Panel and adjust the settings accordingly.

Customizing Buttons

To assign different functions to buttons on the 3D mouse, go to the Button tab on the 3Dconnexion Control Panel and save different key combinations. Also check that the function you want is assigned to a shortcut in Shade3D.
