Added & Improved Features
Trim Mapping Outline Detection
By applying Toon Renderer settings to objects with trim mapping, the trim map outlines can be detected.
Shading is needed to use this feature, so be sure to select the Enable Toon Painting checkbox in the Toon Rendering Settings window.
Changes to the Enable Toon Painting Checkbox
In previous versions of Toon Renderer, deselecting this checkbox meant that toon effects were not applied and shading was done photorealistically. In the current version of Toon Renderer, deselecting this checkbox means that shading is not done and the background color is used to fill instead, and outlines are drawn instantly.
For example, by setting the background to white and deselecting the Enable Toon Painting checkbox, a preset such as Technical Illustration can be rendered very quickly.
However, the boundary lines of trim maps will not be drawn if the Enable Toon Painting checkbox is unselected.
Shadow Algorithm Pop-up Menu Added
This option has been added to the Rendering group in the Toon Rendering Settings window. It offers the below three settings:
Diffuse Adjustment
This is the standard setting used in previous versions of Toon Renderer.
When using the Photorealistic preset, diffuse colors blend smoothly and shadow boundaries stand out less.
Normal Adjustment
This is the same as selecting the Receive Shadows checkbox on the Paint > Shadow tab in previous versions of Toon Renderer.
No Adjustment
No adjustments are made to shadows.
Oversampling Feature Fixed
Improved Oversampling Execution
When determining whether or not to use oversampling, too much oversampling is prevented when using Dot, Pencil, and Halftone. This speeds up rendering.
Improved Boundary Visibility
With the introduction of a new algorithm the accuracy and speed of determining the visibility of boundaries has improved. Speed has especially increased for scenes with Boolean calculations.
Object Boundaries
By determining the inside-outside continuity of objects in the vicinity of boundary lines, accuracy and speed have increased.
Normal Boundaries
By explicitly determining the visibility of triangles forming the edge, accuracy and speed have increased.
Cross Section Boundaries
By calculating the cross section function for two triangles in 3D space, without using 2D projections, accuracy and speed have increased.
Note When using Toon Renderer in scenes with overlapping shapes, there are sometimes problems detecting the boundaries of the overlapping shapes. In this situation, try rendering only the shape that is located at the overlapping position.
