Template Settings Window
Select View > Template Settings to open the Template Settings window. The Template Settings window allows you to load an image in any of the viewports to use as a template when modeling.

The tabs at the top of the Template Settings window are used to switch between the viewports. Before loading an image, select the viewport you wish to use the template in.
Template Settings
- Image List Box
- Here the list of files loaded as templates is displayed. The File column shows the path to the image, and the Target Plane shows the target plane. Click below the list of files to open a dialog for selecting a new image to load.
- Remove Template Button
- Click the "X" to the left of the image file path to remove a template.
- Show/Hide
- The checkbox is used to show or hide the template.
Image Settings
- Opacity
- Sets the opacity of the template.
- Center
- Sets the distance the template is moved, setting the center of the template to 0.0.
- Move
- Moves the template. Click the button, and then drag in the viewport with the template. Dragging in a viewport not selected on the pane cancels the operation.
- Size
- Sets the size of the template.
- Resize
- Use this button to resize the template. Click the button, and then drag the Viewport selected on the pane to resize the template. Dragging a Viewport not selected on the pane cancels the operation.
- Reset
- Resets the size of the template. Can be used for templates in the Top, Front, and Right views.
- Keep Proportion
- Preserves the aspect ratio of the image when modifying either Size text box.
- Target
- This is enabled for the Perspective View. Sets the plane used to project the template image. Select YZ, XZ, XY, or Screen.
Fit/Switch
This is enabled for the Perspective View.
- Local Axis
- This makes the displayed template position fit to the local coordinate plane.
- Rotate Mode
- This makes the displayed template position rotate to operations in rotation mode.
- Work Plane
- This makes the displayed template position fit to the work plane. When this is turned on, switching the plane of the Work Plane Controller in the Perspective View automatically sets the template configured by the Display Template popup menu if it has been configured.
- 3D Cursor
- This is available when the Work Plane is selected. Use this to move the position of the template vertically to the plane intersecting the 3D cursor.
Global Template Settings
- Show in Front
- Displays templates in front of the Figure Window grid and object geometry.
- Hide All
- Hides all templates loaded in the Template Settings window.
- Resolution
- Sets the resolution of the template images. Select 256, 512, 1024, or 2048.
