Drawing a Tangent to a Circle

The Draw Tangent tool can be used to draw a set of NURBS curves that are tangent to one or more circles.

Usage

Creating tangents to one circle

  1. Select a circle.
  2. In CAD Mode, select Draw Tangent from the Toolbox's CAD editing tools.
  3. Two curves (lines) tangent to the selected circle extend from the 3D cursor. Moving the 3D cursor moves the tangent lines in real-time. Click to apply.

Creating external tangents to two circles

  1. Select two circles.
  2. In CAD Mode, select Draw Tangent from the Toolbox's CAD editing tools.
  3. External tangents are drawn connecting the two circles.

Drawing internal tangents to two circles

In the Tool Parameters, select the Add Internal Tangents option to additionally draw internal tangents to the two circles.

Tool Parameters

Add Internal Tangents
Draws both internal tangents to the selected circles.
When unselected, only the external tangents are drawn.
Apply
Confirms the tangent creation.
Cancel
Cancels drawing the tangents.
