Making a Shell
Use the Make Shell tool to add an open face and thickness to a closed NURBS surface, creating a hollow cavity.

Usage
- In Modify Mode, select one or more faces of a closed NURBS surface.
- In CAD Mode, select Make Shell from the Toolbox's CAD editing tools.
- In the Figure Window, click the patch that you wish to make the open face of the shell.
- Next, in the Tool Parameters, specify the distance to add to the surface when making it a shell.
- The open face and thickness are added to the surface.
Tool Parameters
- Distance
- The distance (length) of thickness to add to the surface to make it a shell.
- Add to Inside
- Adds thickness to the inner side of the object.
- Finalize Shell
- Applies the thickness and open face to the surface's geometry. The thickness and open face will no longer be editable afterwards.
- Remove Shell
- Deletes the thickness and encloses the face that was open.
- Apply
- Confirms the shell operation.
- Cancel
- Cancels making the shell.
