Enhanced Object Snap
Additional object elements are now available for Object Snap, including construction lines.
By snapping to specified elements, objects can be positioned accurately when creating, moving, and applying transformations.

Using Object Snap
Select the Object Snap button from the Control Bar, or select Figure > Snap > Object Snap.
(If the Object Snap button is not visible on the Control Bar, right-click an open space on the Control Bar and select Snap/Measure from the context menu.)
The 3D cursor will snap to any element that has been enabled in the Snap Settings window.

Snap Settings Window
- Grid Snap Button
- Toggles Grid Snap on or off.
- Object Snap Button
- Toggles Object Snap on or off.
- Open Settings When Enabled
- The Snap Settings window will open automatically when Object Snap is enabled. Deselect this option if you do not often need to change the snap types.
- Snap Target Settings
- Target
- Displays the name of the object set using the Set Target button.
- Set to Selection
- Enables Object Snap for the selected object(s) only.
- Clear
- Clears the selected target for Object Snap.
- If no object is targeted, Object Snap will be enabled for all objects in the scene.
- Snap Types Settings
- Origin
- The 3D cursor will snap to the origin of the coordinate axes (0,0,0).
- If Intersection is also enabled, the snap bubble will say "Intersection."
- Axis
- The 3D cursor will snap to the X, Y, and Z axes.
- Cursor
- The 3D cursor will snap to the last clicked cursor position and the X, Y, and Z axes of that point.
- Construction Line
- The 3D cursor will snap to construction lines.
- Intersection
- The 3D cursor will snap to intersections of two or more elements.
- Line Object
- When selected, Object Snap is enabled for line elements. To select which line elements are snapped to, use the nested checkboxes.
- Control Point
- The 3D cursor snaps to line control points.
- Line
- The 3D cursor will snap to line objects.
- Midpoint
- The 3D cursor snaps to the midpoint of line objects.
- Polygon Mesh
- When selected, Object Snap is enabled for polygon mesh elements. To select which mesh elements are snapped to, use the nested checkboxes.
- Vertex
- The 3D cursor snaps to polygon mesh vertices.
- Edge
- The 3D cursor snaps to polygon mesh edges.
- Face
- The 3D cursor snaps to polygon mesh faces.
- Midpoint
- The 3D cursor snaps to the midpoint of polygon mesh edges.
- Construction Line Settings
- Clear All Construction Lines
- Clears all construction lines displayed in the Figure Window.
Construction lines are temporary guides that can help to align objects. They can be added parallel to the XYZ axes, along the axes of the 3D cursor, or parallel to object geometry.
To add a construction line, first turn on Object Snap. When the cursor is snapped, showing a snap bubble, right-click and select Create Construction Line from the context menu. Removing construction lines can also be done from the context menu when a snap bubble is displayed.
